The last thing to see now is the isolation tents, iron lung and the WW2 shelters. No doubt that will follow.

These pics are amazing, can anybody just go around this place or do you have to break in so to speak?

It's like scenes from Day of the Triffids!

No i pestered the trust management for about 2 odd months before they handed me a rather large set of keys. I had to take 2 memory cards.. the photos i had taken 'to be verified' and the photos i had really taken on the other.

not as far as medical equip is concerned, Im a radar tech and we use such things to produce high power radio frequencies, magnatrons are also used in microwave ovens to produce the frequencies that heat the food, Magnatrons are fixed frequency using resonant cavities to produce the required frequency where as the TWT is basically a valve with a coil wrapped round, the required frequency at low power is introduced to the coil, this causes the electrons flowing in the valve to bunch and seperate at the wavelength of the low power frequency thus producing a high power version, because it does not relay on machined cavities to produce the frequency you can inject any frequency within the TWTs operating range thus providing frequency agility this helps counter jamming/freq interference, we also used to use devices called multi cavity klystrons, but ive not seen one for years as they are rather large and required large amounts of power......
parasitic x-rays are also produced by such devices not wanted by a radar but of use to your NHS radiographer
