insurance renewal

Postby anth_dci » Thu Jan 14, 2010 4:48 pm

Ive been with bell for two years now and they must think im stupid. My renewal came through yesterday, and they put it up from 500 to 825?! with admiral, elephant (both sister companies) and even putting the details in their site as a new customer its just over 400... I rang up asking what was going on and the girl didnt hessitate to match that price. Means ive just saved 400quid by getting a couple more quotes :hm

It seems to be a well known ploy pitting them against each other. BTW - mine was £273 with Admiral - no points and 3 years no claims (touch wood) fully comprehensive.

Actually that's a good tip - put any older relatives on as named drivers - it lowers the premium (provided they have a good track record!).

Well known con this, i never stay with the same insurance company.
Thing is insurance companies do it because far too many people can't be bothered getting quotes and stick with them.
Discussed it at work today and did a quick poll, out of 16 people 9 of them have been with same insurance company since starting to drive, 1 worryingly for over 18 years.
I know all people can't use the internet to get on comparison sites but everyone i asked could.
Must go now to see when mine up for renewal :?

Got a quote from DONE DEAL (name says it all)

10k yup you read right £10,000 thats for a 2006 megane 225
8 years no claims, only had one claim and that was a non fault no points nothing, all clean.....

well after I picked myself up from the floor I called them up , there was no reason from them as to why it was 10k, phone down , called aviva £215.10 ,legal cover, windscreen courtesy car , declined the breakdown cover as I have that anyway.

Nuff said.

Always best to shop about .

I've just gone with Aviva for my Subaru, they were £200 better than either of the specialist companies I have access to through the club and that's with a discount for being a club member as well :nut

Aviva blew everyone else out of the water. They were the same not so long ago when I changed my wifes car, by far the best quote so, I thought that I'd give them a try for mine as I've been with the same specialist company for 2 years now and thought it was about time that I stopped being a lazy arse and got some alternative quotes, blooming glad that I did
