Megane Body Parts

Postby jasmor » Mon Sep 28, 2009 3:40 pm

Hi All,

Just been i a accident and have damage to rear at passenger side.
The damage is to rear door, sill and section just behind door.

Before I get an insurance estimate and ruin my no-claims :(

If the parts are replaceable and also anywhere I can source cheap parts..

Looked on google but can only find front body parts.

TIA

the doors not a problem, it depends on the degree of damage to the rear quarter and sill

SIll pretty damaged... cracked inside and gap below door.
Rear quater aslo deeply scratched and dented :( :(

it is a 5 door and the rear quater looks to be 1 unit that goes all he way along the side of the car ????

I'm not sure if this is what you're after but according to the Renault data the rear side panel partial replacement cut lines are about 20cm up the rear wheel arch and about 15cm down the 'C' piilar (the measurements are my estimates based on the Renault diagrams I'm looking at). If a bodyshop decided to replace the panel, this is the guide they would use. Even if you managed to source whole panels, unless you can do the work yourself, you'll find that the labour cost will be the limiting factor. In London I'd be looking at well into four figures to fix the kind of damage you describe.

Try registering here: www.partsgateway.co.uk for the panels but I'd be going the insurance route. You'll lose some no claims AND loads of hassle.

you're better off through insurance. they may be underlying damage that you can not see/be aware of. plus, what's the point paying insurance if you're not prepared to use it?

I agree - insurance job. The sill is what gives most of the structural integrity to the car. Having it sorted professionally would be expensive (and I would certainly NEVER advocate welding it up and plating it yourself or by a mate who happens to be a welder). Also the accident might have knocked the whole car out of alignment. It may be written off. Sorry to bear bad news.
