XBOX is a pile of crap/

i've had 2 xboxes, both have broken at just under a year old.
the first i took back to game and they replaced it there and then. they even gave me an elite version instead of the premium console i had, and gave me 20 quid back because of the price difference. however, now my elite has 2 flashing lights, so not the Red Ring. the 2 flashing lights problem has a 1 year warranty, where was Red Rings has a 3 year warranty. i do not want to pay microsoft 80 quid to fix the damn thing because it's got the wrong problem.
does anyone know how to induce the Red Rings? ta.

Get it really hot,
Put it in a cardboard box,
seal up the box,
make a hole in the to to blow air in from a hair dryer.
keep Xbox on till lights appear.

keep hearing horror stories about 360's but mines over now 3 years old and still plodding on. that old it hasn't even got the hdmi port on the back

Modern technology, you should avoid it. Look at me sat here typing away on my Commodore Vic 20 without a problem. Been thinking of upgrading to a Commodore 64 but not too sure, too many things to go wrong!!!

i can assure anyone in doubt of the xbox that it WILL NOT BREAK if cared for.

this means:
keeping it free from dust
keeping it away from areas were it can be knocked or banged
keeping it in an area were it can breathe
ending the game and returning to dashboard before wtitching the console off
keeping disks tidy!

i have a group of friends who all do exactly this and we have never ever had any problems at all! yet the one guy in the groop who never does any of the above has gone through 3 consoles..

Search on google for the 2 lights, its pretty common. £20 to fix it most places ive found.

To be honest i cared for mine really well and i still got the 3 red lights, i think it only affects some. IIRC the heat sink comes loose when it keep heating up and cooling down. Very easy to fix

apparently with the larger consoles (PS3/Xbox) you should keep them horizontal...

1. it stops excess strain on the heatsink mountings so it won't fall off.
2. PS3 BD-drive sometimes jams in a vertical position

i heard someone wrapped their xbox in a towel to make it overheat... giving RRoD.. or similar. Not that i recommend this...

Got to admit mine conforms to the first three on this list. I don't worry about ending at console/dashboard but at least that the game has stopped saving and is on the games main menu. It has plenty of abuse for the first 2 years of use but gets used maybe once or twice a week now as have to fight my 3 year old to get gaming time on it

mine lasted 2 years without fault, its just one of those things you expect with the 360 unfortunately. put a towel over it and try and force a ring of death, you've got nothing to loose.
