Aircon Condensate Drain - where is it ?

Postby Japster » Thu Jul 16, 2009 6:06 pm

Hi,

new to the forum but had the scenic II for a bout 2 years, I've got a problem with water spilling into the passenger footwell everytime I do a sharp right turn, I know it's in the ventilation system cause I can hear the fan change pitch when blowing water instead of air.

So anyone know where the condensate drain from the aircon exits the car ? I've recently stripped the dashboard down looking for the climate control power module so know the sequence quite well now.

My fan didn't run for a few months because of the power controller for the fan so I've bridged that out so its full blast until I can afford a new one. Problem is using the Aircon at full chat doesn't half generate some condensate hence the problem.

Any help appreciated,

Thanks,

Craig

Take a look under your car :

There's a black little valve above the exhaust that should open to drain water, but often it's stuck. Just pull it open, put a copper wire in and pull out any dirt (if present). Then lube the valve with some WD40. This should do the trick for a while.
