I remember reading a post a bit back that someone had a new cam belt fitted and it felt quicker than before. Think he said it was one notch out or something? Well i have had a new cam belt and auxiliary belt fitted today (it's 5 years and 11 months old thought i was pushing my luck  ) and got to agree mine does seem to have a bit more pep at low revs, i pretty sure its not in my head, the garage never said anything, but anyway i'm pretty happy :D

Cost if anyone is intrested -
Timing belt kit £81.50
Micro V auxiliary belt £15.45
Labour charge £137.09
VAT £35.05

Total £268.74

Oh yeah i know someone is going to say you should of got the water pump changed at the same time but to be honest i don't do loads of miles and i'm planning on changing it next year so i'm happy with the £40 saved in my sky rocket.

Fingers crossed

Possibly, and I put it no stronger than that, it could have been that the belt, by your own admission, was the better part of 6 years old was stretched? I know they probably wouldn't stretch a lot, but just enough to throw the valve timing out ever so slightly? You might not have noticed the change because of driving it through the stretch if you like, therefore not noticing over a period of years, the slight change????

Just a thought.... :?:

I once had an old Hillman Avenger and the exhaust was about buggered, but when I had it replaced, it was like a different car!!
