Garmin Sat Nav Maps, is there another way?

Postby tallpaul » Tue Mar 31, 2009 2:38 pm

I've got a Garmin Nuvi sat nav and it keeps flashing up that the maps are a year old and so are out of date (they are, it still reckons some local roads are 40mph from when they had roadworks). I looked on the garmin site and the maps are £60! that seems a major bend-me-over since the unit was less than £150 and you can get them loads cheaper now!! is there any way around paying the £60??

have a look on torrent sites you can get the latest maps for the garmin sat navs for free

I have a tom tom and they are a little more tricky to update their maps especially when you don't want to pay for it ;)

If you have any problems let me know and I will send you some links of where to get maps from

Good idea i have Navman but never thought of up dating the maps. Hows it done as mine only has a slot for SD card? Can you get SD card writers?

I got a similar one from ebay, similar price too and ive had no problems with it.

Oddly enough Ive also seen them sold in petrol stations (? !), usually only a few quid when bought with £x worth of fuel.
