Hi all.
I have just bought my first Renault. Its a Scenic 1.9 Diesel on a W (2000)plate. I have bought the vehicle with no service history so have given it a full filter and fluids change for the winter. My problem is that I cant find a way of turning off the serv light on the dash on start. How do I go about this? Is this a dealer only reset item or is their a process like the Peugeots have by way of using the mileage reset button with a countdown etc.
Any advice would be great as I do not want to have a dealer charging me to do this is this would cancel out all my hard work and cash outlay. Ive been trying to save a few quid .
Thanks in advance.

Re: Scenic Service Light Reset
I think i remember the service light was a warning light not a filter due service light on my 2000 megane
Think its the same on the scenic
do you have autodata?

Re: Scenic Service Light Reset
HI, no I dont have autodata unfortunately. I tried the Peugeot method of holding down the trip reset button then turning on ignition while still keeping it pressed. The tacho and speedo and all other "needle" gauges start sweeping, so I think there is something to be had in this method, but not sure what the correct method is.

Re: Scenic Service Light Reset
When I bought my car (the one in my signature) I had a 'Change Oil Soon' message on my display and the Service Spanner was lit. They'd changed the oil at the garage though so I knew the oil was fine.
Apparently all I had to do was reset the display. Now these are instructions for a Megane, I don't know if they'll apply to yours?!? Anyway:
1) Push the display toggle button at the end of the right stalk until whatever message you have is displayed
2) Once displayed push and hold the same button for about 8 soconds (I think, could just be 5) and this should reset your display and the spanner light should go out.
If none of the above applies to you then I'm sorry I don't know how to help you.

Re: Scenic Service Light Reset
I thought the Mark 1 needed to be reset using one of those CLIP thingies? I'm sure someone on the Scenic Forums came to that conclusion.
