avarage mpg

hi could any one tell me what there avarage mpg is on a mk2 megane 1.4 i reset my trip computer today before i went on a journey i sat at a avarage speed of 50to 55 mph and only got 35mpg is this normal i noticed i am only getting about 24mpg around town whitch seems very low for a 1.4

hi i would say you rcar needs a good service , it should do more than that on a run and local.i have a 1.5 dci megane and get 55 mpg local and over 60 mpg on motorway even though your car is petrol should do more . get a price for a good service

the 1.4 engine has always been too underpowered you should have gone for the 1.6 which gives better MPG and cheaper road tax

hi thanks for the advice its got a full service history last one done 2 months ago it has only done 35k so a bit confused so i think it wil be going up for sale cheers Mike

Had the same problem with my wifes megane 2, 2003, 1.4 dynamique. MPG was down to 31mpg even on a good run. Her air conditioning hadnt been working for about a year so we decided to get it fixed, bizarrely getting her air con re-gassed put her average MPG up to 42mpg. I've read on other forums that correctly pressured air con systems can improve your mpg by up to 20 - 25%.
