Hi, got an 04 Megane II, which is in need of some new discs and pads both front and rear.
Can anyone give me some pointers as to any " surprises" I may come across when changing them over.
I dont think the front's are going to be a problem, but the rears are a little more troublsome looking, with the bearings in the disc etc.
Any pointers or info would be great.

Re: Changing Brake Discs and pads
Buy genuine Renault discs and pads - you can get a complete set on ebay for around £100. The bearing is integral to the disc and the ABS ring is also fitted. Both can be troublesome if not purchased OEM (but not from the dealers unless you can get a better price). There are posts on here about people removing the ABS ring, but it is easily damaged. My preference is to go for new - not least since 'compatible' parts are often unbalanced castings (AlexB has written about this). You will need a big chrome/vanadium socket and a two foot bar to get the nut off (and a hammer!). Aside from that, it isn't much more difficult than any standard job.
Oh and before I forget - coat the back of the pads, the hub and the exposed handbrake cable in copper grease. It will make removing the road wheel much easier in the future and also increase the longevity of the cable.
