Hi There,
I've recently bought a nice 1.9 DCI Megane ii (2003) with a 100,000 miles on it. Its been well looked after and has a full renault service history.
I'm only getting 40 mpg while driving really conservatively at 50-60 MPH on a long straight road - 20 miles long and my motorway isn't much better.
I'm looking for advice as too, whats the best speed to go on the motorway and on long flat roads to achieve the best MPG...
It might be that I'm going too slow - or too fast. Anyone who drives a similar car I'd appreciate some advice plz.
Thanks,
Mike

(considering a remap - but is it worth a new clutch and turbo?!)

I don't think that the speed is the issue. I got 43mpg towing a caravan over 200 miles on either dual carriageways or motorways at 70mph (average speed over the run was 54mph).
You say that the car has a full Renault history, but despite that there are many things Renault do not check during the services that they should such as the EGR valve, and breather system, for example.
There are multiple threads on average mpg on here. Have a search.

Thanks Dave, I've read most of the postings relating to MPG I think, and its been a great resource for me.
Does anyone know of a decent Renault mechanic in Belfast i could trust to get to the bottom of this without skinning me ?
