Front bumper star screws

Postby steve.moody » Thu Mar 25, 2010 6:52 pm

Hi All,

Just been reading up on how to get the front bumper off my 2005 megane to replace the grilles either side of the badge, to have a look at the horn (thinking about replacing it with this - https://www.stebel.it/stebel2009/product ... logia=auto) and to have a general look to check everything underneath the bumper is ok.

I have already ordered some spare trim clips which i'll pick up on Saturday before I start, but was wondering if anyone knew which size star screwdriver was needed to take the two screws out of the arch liner either side?

these ones - Image

Need to get a set of them and didn't know which to get:

you can remove grilles without taking off bumper
masking tape under the grille
using a wallpaper scraper ease the grille up then out at the bottom
once out at bottom pull gently down
reach in theres the horn

Mine are T20 or T27... can't remember. I suggest you visit a local motor factor, ask if you can try the sizes of a couple of screwdriver types and buy the one that fits. No need to buy a kit unless you want to spend a lot of money on tools you probably won't need.

Hi,have just replaced my horn with loud twin horns. You do not have to remove the bumper, everyone who sais so is not very well.To remove the gril, left or right, lift it on the bottom slat then give it a sharp pull upwards and the bottom lugs will disangage then lower it to disengage the top lugs and it is out. When reinserting put the toplugs back into the holes line up the bonnet catch ley it against the bottem and give it a sharp wack which will re-engage the bottem lugs,i have done it several times, very easy no damage. The horn is on a singele 13mm bolt. The wire is connected by a plug which has a retaining wire round its base,to remove the plug you have to remove the wire first then unplug.Very simple.
