Holdcroft Crewe *shamed* :(

Postby andywills » Fri May 16, 2008 2:53 pm

Brought a 04 plate megane with 38k on clock. Within 6 weeks keyless entry failed. Took back and they told me their warranty only covers the engine & gearbox and they wouldnt repair it unless I paid.

7 weeks and the TDC has failed, but I did get that one sorted.

Halfway between official complaint and trading standards at the moment concerning the keyless entry. Trading standards seem to think that this should be repaired for free

Explain the situation to the sales man who sold you the car, the MD of the dealership, telling them that you chose to spend a lot of money with them with the purchase of your car and this is not the service you expect.

If you have bought the car on finance, contact them as well as they can help resolve issues.
Make improvements, not excuses!

Hi Ian,

Unfortunately, the last time I went in, the salesman ignored me when I went to speak to him. The guy at the service desk was actually sitting on the desk and the impression I got was that he was trying to chat the girl at the desk up, AND! there were two other sales men busy on facebook!

When they told me that they would not warrant the repair for the doors (they left this to a receptionist to do), I said that this was unfair and tried to explain that a warranty is in addition of your statatory rights, not to replace them and was asked abruptly whether I wanted it doing or not!

When I rang up about the lack of acceleration from cold starting, I got the impression that he did not believe me. I asked whether it could be something to with the coils or the dephaser pulley which are a document faults, but was told that these were not documented faults and it was the first time he had heard of this.

Also! They could not even arrange a courtesy car, the best he could do was to offer me a lift home (10 miles away).

This is the most expensive car I have brought to date, and I went specifically to a Renault dealer expecting a good service, and a top notch car, which I have not recieved.

Since the TDC sensor being changed, the performance is better, but not 100%. I have booked the car in with another garage (an independent Renault specialist with full diagonist clips, etc. and a very good reputation) to check it over for me.

My intention is to keep this car for 1-2 years then swap for another, but I think I will be going to an independant garage next time (they give better warranties).

I have written to them under the advice of trading standards, and now awaiting there reply...

Took mine to Holdcroft crewe weeks after buying it with keyless problems. When i went to pick it up the guy said it was fine came out with me pressed key fob to lock and unlock and said there seems ok. I had to explain to him the definition of keyless which he wasn't aware of. Ended up going to independant renault dealer in Madeley not far from Crewe who had it sorted in half a day. Had it serviced at Madeley till i moved away.

Yeah thats them at madeley heath. Its a shame when you have to kick up a fuss with dealers to get the proper service but needs must.

crikey, 235 views on this topic, looks like they're a few more people disappointed with this dealer than i thought.

i was after some car mats for the car and after looking at the prices on ebay and adding the postage, they're no cheaper than a dealer, so i phoned madeley heath motors. the guy said that they werent something they keep in stock but can order them in and takes two days.

I said okay, and asked if he was open Saturday to take money down (assuming that they would want the money up front) and surprisingly he said not to worry about that, he would order them and them in for Saturday...

Think I will do some investigating about this dealer, looks promising

Like i said earlier i never had a problem there. One of the guys even took me back to the pub(lived+worked not drinking!!)after i'd dropped my car off as my wife got "delayed" shopping and forget to get me. Live about 60 miles away now in N Wales but would certainly think of going to Madeley Heath if i had a major problem.
