misleading info on dephaser fault

Postby dsyggy » Sat Aug 01, 2009 9:46 am

Just a word of warning ref dephaser faults. I have just had my 2003 1.6 vvt megane swerviced and a dephaser fault was diagnosed due to stalling at startup ( a few minutes til the car was warming up). I decided not to have the work done but investigate further. Miraculously the car is now running perfectly and after a few chats with various people its seems that when the codes are reset in dealers sometimes so called problems disappear. I personally believe it was a fuel delivery problem. I could have forked out £635 and been none the wiser.
incidentally the dealer was Wokingham Motors in wokingham. I am just baffled at how a dephaser fault can show then the car magically run like new.
