Hello.
My friends megane is due a service.
I was just wondering what is the best oil for it and how many litres does it take?

In a nutshell...
Get any MB229.3 or MB229.5, from this page:
https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-719-2293.aspx
MB229.5 are of better quality, Motul 8100 X- lite 0W-30 is of almost racing performance, Xw30 will give you a tiny bit of fuel economy/performance in comparison to Xw40, 10w40 are of the lowest quality. All oils in the above page are significantly better than what the dealers use. Note, some bottles in the above link are 4 and some 5 litres. Register with opieoils as the club member in order to get a discount. You will need 4.85 litres plus 1-3 litres for topping up depending on mileage and usage (your engine must be revved hard for any decent performance!). Use OEM (Purlux) or Mann filters only and never trust "experts" from shops and garages.
