front fog lights fitting

Postby paul.o » Sun Oct 05, 2008 8:40 pm

Is it possible to fit front renault fog lights to my 07 1.5dci sport tourer. Is the wiring for them in the bumper and on my light control stalk there is only the function to switch on the rear fogs.

Not AFAIK. The existing wiring should come all the way to the left rear corner of the front bumper where there should be a free connector. You'll need to add the bumper wiring from this connector to the foglights.

In that case you'll need a new control stalk, plus the ECU needs to be "taught" the car has front fogs. Otherwise they won't light up. So that means a visit to an official Renault garage where they can plug in the CLIP diagnostic computer.

i wouldnt bother for several reasons...mainly as it sounds like to much hard work for something that most of time you would be driving illegally with them on. Mine has front fog lights and I have only ever turned them on once and that was see if they worked

I have to say I agree, unless you live at the top of a mountain lol. I've had front fogs on all my cars for the past 10 years or so, I'd say I've used them maybe twice. Or is it purely for aesthetics?

No no as a young driver... i always have mine on, and now especialy as i put hids down there... but for the life of me i dont know why other drivers flash me.... :ner

Hey all

I`ve got a 2005 Megane II 1.6 which came with the fogs fitted, the drivers side one has been hit by a stone or whatever and is all misted up inside. I don`t really use them but I`ll need to replace it just so that it doesn`t bugger up the electrics, plus it looks a bit unsightly anyway.

This isn`t my car but it`s the smae model and fog light, which looks different from the image above.

Before I speak with the Renault dealership does anyone know if the lamps are easy to fit if it`s just a swap over, and if this one on ebay is likely to be the right shape for the year etc.

Just in case anybody`s done it before and can say, it`ll save me going to the dealership.

Cheers

Buy one off e-bay
It's an easy swap take out 2 torx drive or 7mm head blots from wheel arch liner
Bend that gently back or take out big cap push ins to remove completly
Reach in unplug harness from bulb undo 2 bolts holding in light then remove from bumper
Putting in new one just the reverse

Assume nothing, I obviously did do a search but couldn`t find anything specific about fitting them.

Thanks for the advice Steve.

hi it is possible to fit front fog lights, however you will require a circular switch from an auto parts store for around £3.50 and a spare piece of wire for the switch, we used an old guitar jack lead,

you will need to take the glove box out to feed the wire through, thats what we did so that we could mount the switch on the panel where the headlight adjustment is, but it didnt take that long, most of the time was spent wiring the foglights in, its essential to buy the fog lights with the wiring loom,

hope my advice helped,

callum
