DieselTuner boxes

Postby sav0 » Fri Aug 01, 2008 3:13 pm

Has anyone has any experience with tuning boxes?
I have just bought one from dieseltuner on everyones favorite ebay.

The results are amazing firstly the car sounds smoother in idle and going through the gears seems alot smoother and the extra power is there .

But best of all I have gone from 56mgp (without tuning box) on short trips to averaging 60mpg .On a long trip(100+ miles) 65+ mpg how is this possible?

Are there any known problems caused by using these ?

Only had this car 7 months and so far have had to put new discs and pads all round, new steering rack arms on both sides, 2 front window regulators replaced, 4 new tyres and a spare alloy luckily the spare alloy was only £20 from scrappies cos the idiot i bought the car from had put a 14" spare in the boot when this car has 16" wheels. Full sevice oil, air, pollen, fuel filter changed.

So hopefully (touches head) I wont have any more problems and wont have to spend any more on it or at least till after its MOT in a couple of months.

Although I do have a feeling the washer pump will want replacing at sometime or another cos it works when it wants to

I fitted one to my clio 1.5 dCi 100 and the difference was unbelieveable. It seemed to be a lot more rev happy, whereas before the engine felt a touch on the lazy side. MPG improved very slightly but as i have a lead foot any improvement was welcomed.

Have a look at this eBAY Link

Although it says every Renault model apart from Megane, the engines are the same so it should work.

Ahh.!
I see. So thats what the Diesel tuning box/chip is then ?...
Is it what everyone on here is refering too ?
So with this & a K&N style air filter i could see a good improvement ??

Cheers.

You will notice the difference immediately the first time you drive after installation with or without a K&N.
Dead simple to fit too.

ive got a 1.9 dci just put a diesel tuning box on ,which i bought from diesl tuning on ebay .got to say results are impresive.Though had to play around with settings to get best results .If i put on the highest setting the car goes like stink, but has a misfire when driving at about 80 when you put your foot down.mid way is a good setting for me smoother ,more responsive, better mpg.over all just much better drive.although when i put it on wasnt that impressed with performance then i took it off felt like i was driving with the handbrake on!! just put a green cotton panel filter on was advised that they were better than k&n on megane diesels but got to say not sure if it improves anything at all.

copy and paste this link bellow and paste into google it takes you streight to ebay shop.

Does fitting one of these cause any problems to the ecu or make the engine management light flash up?

a Tuning box shouldnt mess with the ECU too much, i have had my car remapped, its imilr to a Tuning ox but theres no box lol
ive noticed a big difference but it happens over night, my car slowly improved and just kept improving, now i dont even need to revthe car over 2 and it still goes to 60mph, a mate of mine has an 08 Corsa and envies my MPG lol

Has anybody tried one of these?

I have just fitted one to my X-Type Jag and i'm very impressed with it, as it is adjustable.

Considering fitting one to my wife's 1.5 dci Megane.
