The Mégane II Owners' Club

I did try and search this already but couldn't find the answer I was looking for,

I have just purchased a Megane Dynamic 1.9DCi on an 05 Plate, I am not sure whether this has hands free entry or not, I've tried but I've not been able to get into the car without pressing the unlock button. It makes me think the car does not have this feature but I am still not sure, Can anyone help?

Do the door handles have little button on the outside. About the size of a 10 pence piece?

If not, then no, you don't have keyless entry.

Seems like I don't then, Bit annoyed about that as the Dealer I bought it off told me it had Keyless Entry

Which it has - you don't use a key to get in, which is standard on the Megane, what you haven't got is handsfree keyless entry.

Don't be upset. These hands-free things fail frequently.

yeh if you have handsfree keyless entry then you will have a sensor on the inside of the handle and a small button on the handle which is used to lock the car
also you wont need the keycard inserted into the slot to start the engine

Dont be upset had the passenger door sensor fail when i got the car in oct and the drivers door sensor fail now so more hassle than its worth

They are alot of trouble but i must say i'm dreading getting a car without as i love just jumping in and driving off without having to mess about with keys.

Its nice as it confuses my neighbour into thinking I never lock my car.

I really enjoy mine and would hate to go back to fiddling around with keys and such like.

Only problem I have had was user error. I thought the system was failing because the button on the outside started taking several presses to work then sometimes wouldn't work at all. I didn't know if it was Card or Car failure so I tried the spare key and it behaved the same... therefor I assumed it was the car. I was going to put it into service when I thought maybe BOTH keys were failing. Turns out they must have both had their original batteries in and had managed to run down at exactly the same rate. I assume that means the keys are on all the time... even when sitting in my kitchen drawer with my steak knives and ice cream sundae spoons.

I found that if you keep the key card near a mobile phone it doesnt open the car
