The Mégane II Owners' Club

A mate from Polish forum asks whether his chosen alloys 18"x8,5 with tyres 225 x 40 or 45 and ET 30 will simply get inside. He wants also to lower suspension -35mm?
Has anyone done such experiments? Pictures, observations etc?

18x8.5's may just squeeze in, but the biggest problem will be the offset of 30, the wheels will stick out a fair way, increasing the track significantly.
Depending on legalities where he is will be a big issue. (I know they would be illegal in Australia)
