New Wipers Required - whats best ??

Postby absmegane » Fri Jul 13, 2007 4:00 pm

Dear all,

Have managed to get just over 3 years out of my front wipers
and they need replacing, they are the original ones that came with
my car from new.

Should I replace with like for like or are there any other make / brands
worth trying that fit the megane...

Regards

Have a look at http://www.wiperblades.co.uk they do a good range on there. The Bosch blades work very well in my experience.

Get the bosch aerotwin from your dealer. I had them on the Megane and now the Clio (different make?) and they are very good and looks much better.

I'd go with Bosch or Valeo branded aerotwin/X.TREME "flat" style wipers.

They look nicer and work generally better as a wiper.

If you're on a budget, go with Bosch branded "bow" type wipers.

I'm currently using "budget" flat style ones (innovision from ebay) and they're not bad @ £18 a pair... but I can tell they're not the usual branded type from their working quality - i get some wiper lift from 55mph at the corners.

Halfords sell rebranded valeo's but i find that rebrands are not the same quality.
e.g. if valeo quality inspection had 4 grades, 1-4 (1 being best quality), valeo would use grade 1 stock, OEM 1-2, and rebrands 3-4.

Cheers Guy's...

Will look into the flat style Bosch or Valeo ones... I had a new clio
a month or two back when I had my Megane MOT's (first one) and
the only great thing about the new clio I thought was how good
the wipers were when it started to **** down, they were very
low profile, about 20mm wide but boy did they shift the water, very,
very impressive !!

Thanks again

Yes the wife's new Clio has these on and they do make a difference.

Valeo make the OEM wipers for Renault; I've alway stuck with genuine Renault ones and had no problems. I've had Bosch and Champion and not been impressed with them.
Make improvements, not excuses!

I expect it's a case of 'you get what you pay for' so do you replace them annually with cheap ones or do you go for the expensive ones and hope that they last for three years? One of my original blades only lasted for 18 months so I replaced it with a cheapie.

The aerotwin are around £25-£30 from the dealer the last time I bought them.
