Panoramic sunroof bracket pads

Postby Kylegypo » Mon Jul 02, 2012 11:26 am

Decided to finally sort out my sunroof as it whistles at 80mph and catches the rear sunroof when opening.
I've diagnosed the problem but can't find the part. I need the rubber pads that are on the triangular brackets which move the glass.
I am currently looking at scrapyards/breakers etc but no luck so far.

Anyone know where I can find them new?

Is this what you're looking for?

Seems pricey, but your options are limited. Give them a call, see what they say.

Hope that helps.

Ye it's hard to tell for sure as the picture is tiny but that looks like what I need. I think I have tracked one down though. Found a breakers who may have the part, just hope it's not as old and damaged as my current ones. That's amazingly expensive for what it is. Think I could get a set made for cheaper

Yer just ordered the bearings : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261026753802?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648#ht_1873wt_1144 Obviously you will need to order 2 of these to get 4.

Cant wait to get it finally sorted, looks smoother and faster too

Sorry about the delay in update, I wouldn't recommend this "upgrade" not only did it not fix the problem. Now when parked with the engine on I get the worlds most annoying rattle from the bearings on the runners :/
Its quite obvious from the youtube video that this is possible but in my case it didn't work.

Still trying to find replacement triangular brackets.

Here's the manual.

See page 27.

:)

Were the parts you found second hand or new? If it's a new part please post a link so others can track them down.

Hi all,

My wife's megane has the same trouble with the sunroof - thinks it's the plastic bushes. Currently they are on sale from a company in Turkey on ebay (username = ensarian). They are described as:

RENAULT MEGANE II / SCENIC II SUNROOF REPAIR CLIPS - (4 pieces)

Current url is:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/pspgw6s

They cost £15.95 + 3.95 postage. They are probably overpriced for what they are but then again, cheaper than £80 for the Renault kit. When I do get some, not sure I'm keen on taking the head lining out, from the manual posted on this thread it seems quite a big job! If anybody has any short-cut please let me know.

In the mean time, if you press upwards on the sunroof at the rear of it BEFORE you twiddle the knob to open, it misses the back glass panel and doesn't clunk. Hope this helps,

Carlos.

I had the same problem with the sunroof on my 225, the repair kit is something stupid like £80 from Renault.
After crawling through ebay I found a seller who sells the plastic parts for £1.80 each, so in total cost me just under £10 and they are based in the UK.
Took me about 15 mins to fit and works as good as new now.
Would HIGHLY recommend this seller, ended up getting aload of push rivet clips from them too:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Megan ... 33831d6909

With regards to fitting, all I did was opened the sunroof and undone the torx screws on the back of the sunroof bracket (put some towels under the glass to prevent it from falling)
I could then manoeuvre the bracket slightly and pull it towards the front of the car, after doing this I could lift up the sunroof a bit and the bracket just slid out.
Refitting can be a bit of a pain but it is possible this way. Im by no means a mechanic and it took me around 15 mins, just remember to have some lithium grease :)

Too late :( I paid £45 for the full sunroof repair kit on eBay. If only these plastic parts where available on eBay a year ago before I tried the bearings method.

Thanks anyway, atleast I know where to get them next time.
