lower balljoint

Hi
I'am have to change the lower balljoint, on the front lower arm, because they are worn, the question is. is it possible to change the balljoint, with the lower arm on the car, it's possible to bay the balljoint seperately on e-bay.

Not as far as I am aware. The arm would have to be off the car anyway to press the worn joint out.

You may as well change to entire arm whilst it's off the car instead. That's my opinion.

yes the balljoints can be bought seperately,and they can be replaced with the arm still on the car,i've replaced two on my megane and one on my scenic.

first remove hub nut,remove pinch bolt holding lower ball joint in place,remove drive shaft from hub and secure so that it does not come out of gearbox end,place a large block of wood under the arm near the ball joint to take the pressure,under the ball joint there is a small lip i used wide chisel (brickies bolster) and hammer and four big hits on the lip and the balljoint was out you need the block of wood to take the blow and not damage the arm.The new ball joint should come with a snap ring to hold it in place,line up the new ball joint and using a big socket big enough to fit over the top of the balljoint strike the socket until the joint is fully home then put the snap ring in place,not everyone agrees with this method but it has worked for me three times and over a year ago and been good enough for an MOT.

Fair enough. Sounds easier to just swap the arm out though tbh. Plus you renew the bushes when you do a full arm which is always a good thing.
