Electric Wing Mirrors

Postby Ray » Sun Aug 28, 2011 5:37 pm

I need a new passenger/nearside wing mirror. there's one on ebay that just says electric and it's the right colour. Just wondered if all electric mirrors are also power fold units too? or are they a different item altogether?

Different item altogether, unfortunately. :-(
If you've already got the power folding type, the standard electric adjusting mirror will probably fit and work when plugged in, it just won't fold.
If you've got standard mirrors and were thinking of upgrading to power folding you'll need a new switch aswell.

ahh damn it. i have electric power fold. the rear casing has a hole in it where it was smashed by another car and the inner black plastic (part attached to door frame) is also slightly smashed. was thinking a unit swap.

Without seeing both types side by side it's hard to say but are your damaged parts the generic parts that fit both types of mirror?
If so you could use the non folding as a donor for the parts to fix your existing mirror.

they would be generic parts. i'll recheck the damage to the base and decide whether to get a new unit or just the rear cover.
