Door Loom

Postby DekHog » Sun Apr 03, 2011 4:30 pm

Hi all.....

Is it only possible to get a drivers door wiring loom from Renault dealers? I was having a search online (breakers, eBay etc) but nobody appears to have one. If anyone has a part number for this, and a rough price from Renault I'd be most grateful. Nothing worse than windows not working and the weather getting better by the week! :x

The passenger door went first, then the drivers door, but it's not motor or actuator, as the garage done a temp fix on the drivers door loom that lasted around four weeks - seem to be getting a lot of water in both door side storage pockets as well recently, but don't have a clue where it's coming from....

hi
the water in the door pocket comes from behind the mesh that covers the speaker. most modern cars have a plastic membrane that prevents water from getting from inside the door to inside the car but for some reason renault don't.
i don't have a part number but renault will be the only company to supply a new wiring loom but most good breakers should be able to supply one.
if you have the time i would just remove the old loom and replace the wires one by one. just cut and solder them half inch away from the connectors. you will more then likely find there is only one or two damaged wires. test them first with a voltmeter.
good luck

Thanks for the reply - I did post with 247spares but surprisingly never got a single reply from anyone offering a loom(s)..... it might be a case of trying to repair it as you mentioned, as I imagine Renault will be looking for me to remortgage the house for two new looms... :(

i'm in the accident repair trade and yes these things normaly cost lot's and have a week long wait on them as they are not a stocked item for most dealers.
my out look on my megane is to repair everything thats possible and save your money for the next problem, because there will be one, or two,or three
good luck

you could if you could find one. the problem is that the fault is caused by the wires becoming brittle with age and also water ingress. you may just be delaying having to replace that loom aswel, this is a common problem on renaults and in my work we prefer to find and fix that length of loom. please don't think its a hard job because getting your loom out the door is much harder with these stupid door trims.

Thanks for that - will probably just bite the bullet and get a new one since there were no replies from 247spares....

I've eventually got around to getting two door looms from Renault - a bit less than expected at £81 each + VAT. Is there any way to stop the leaks into the door pockets while the doors are open to fit the looms? What's the normal fix for this guys? I really don't want to give Renault any more money!
