Tyre Pressure Sensors

Mad I know, but I'm off to my local Renault specialists to see about getting the tyre pressure sensors fitted tomorrow.

They weren't specified originally but another club member (Ulrich100) kindly pointed out that most Méganes have the capability of having them added anyway.

Now, provided the CLIP system gives the go ahead tomorrow, does anyone have any tips of where to pick up the sensor valves?

Do I need specific Mégane sensors, or will the Laguna ones do?

Cheers :D

Ill flog you three for a resonable price... I broke one!

Renault will charge you 45 + vat for one.

(on the clip its simply a matter of them turning the sensor on that resides in the HCU.) Then programing the long code on the side of each transmitter to the relevent line. (once for each sensor)

However next dry weekend mine will be comming out as they are a PAIN IN THE ARSE... never stop beeping at you and there is no way to disable the beep. :banghead

(They dont have to renault specific just made by sagem)

Hahaha! May explain the shocked expression when I asked about getting sensors ADDED to the car today.

I found a Renault Specialist in Newtownards , the guy was really friendly and the first person to even consider my request. As you know, Charles Hurst hadn't a clue what they were talking about.

I'm popping over tomorrow morning for him to check the UCH and we'll take it from there. I may be buying those sensors you're offering.

Just to confirm, my dash is compatible? It has the car picture with the tyres showing, looks like this:

Yea yea when activated the 'tyres' will dim out untill the sensors are programed. Then if there is a problem the tyre at fault will fill orange on the dash and beep like C!nt at you.

If you drive done a road with loads of pot holes it play a tune! :banghead

Mr Hurst wouldn't know his arse from his elbow!

Whos is the fella in Ards?

Also put more than a 5er in your tank!!

Well I'm halfway there :D

Now all I need are the sensors. Are your three for sale, P?

Odd thing, my Hands Free doesn't work now. When I open the door (after pressing unlock on the card), it says PLEASE INSERT CARD, and not straight to PRESS BRAKE + START. Has to be locked with the card as well. He must've deactivated it.

All the more reason to get these sensors ASAP, can't be living without Hands Free for much longer :banghead

Somethings not right there.

Even if the sensors arnt present you should have the message 'Electronic Fault' and the Service light.

No matter how much playing i have done with my sensors i havent seen that message in relation.

As to Hands free not working some has balls up.

I fear you would have been better just paying him the money for 'time with the clip' and done it your self. Rather than let someone else mess with it.

I need to get the sensors ASAP then, so the mess that's been made can be undone!

Who fitted your valves and how much?

My mate works at Renault, got me four new sensors for £80 so they're all ready to go.

I've noted all the codes etc, first thing on Monday morning I'll get a tyre place to fit them then pop back to Ards.

I'll keep updating... fingers crossed

Got all the valves fitted yesterday, made sure each colour ring went on to each wheel dedicated in the owners manual - not that it really matters.

Went back to Ards to get them programmed just now, and he can't do it without an "exciter" to "excite" the valves. But it's ok, he has a friend at Ards Renault who will do it tomorrow at 11:30am for the same price.

On the plus side... the Hands Free Renault Card is working again! Certainly a case of not knowing what you have until it's gone.

Will let you know what happens at Renault tomorrow.

You can just use any compresser to activate them. Just run some air though them and the change the update cycle from 15sec's to every second.

Ah well guess tomorrow will do you.
