Cheapest place to get a dephaser pully

Postby trusz » Wed Nov 10, 2010 11:21 am

I have a dreaded 2003 1.6VVT. I've put up with the cold start stalling and rattling for long enough.

Has anyone had their dephaser pulley replaced recently? Did you buy the part yourself? If so where did you find was the cheapest?

I had mine replaced at my local garage (Fast lane Motors in Stoke-on-Trent). They bought the part from the dealer (£60 odd quid), along with the failed solenoid and a new cam belt, They had the car for a week and it came to £480, inc labor.

The only hitch was that they had no idea what the problem was, the diagnosis came from this forum!!! They just did what I told them, as the computer told them the cam sensor had simply failed, which was untrue. The called the Renault dealer, and they said "ohh, never heard of that particular fault before, dephaser pully you say, yep, got 12 in stock mate!". There's an important message in there I think!
Admire those who seek the truth, beware of those who claim to have found it!
