Hi guys

Need a wee bit of advice here. My cambelt on my 1.5DCI is almost up for replacing - I'm around 65k although the car is just over 3 years old !

What sort of price should I be looking for to get this job done. I intend to try local independent garages and not Renault dealers. Any other parts that should be changed while this is getting done ?

Many thanks

Greig

I read somewhere about changing water pump at the same time.

My mum had hers done on her old megane about 2 months ago.

Renault quoted £390 a local garage did it for £180 BIG DIFFERENCE lol. best to shop around, and the garage will need specific tools to do it on the Renault.

Hope this helps.

(i may be wrong about the water pump, but im sure someone will correct me if I am....)

You should change the water pump at the same time ad to change the pump the belts have to be removed, but basicly the reason is that the new belt are tighter than the older ones and that will cause strain on the water pump and often causes them to leak, if this happens and it needs changing on it's own it costs alot more than getting it done at the same time as the belts :-) hope thats of some help!
