Fitting K&N panel filter to my dci

Postby M055Y » Tue Jun 08, 2010 3:35 pm

Not sure if this is in the right section, i apologise if it's not but I've just received my K&N panel filter in the post not sure how to change it over as it's alot different under the bonnet from my previous vehicles.

Is this easy enough to do? any advice will be much appreciated

Well i found this post:

mintyman5 wrote:hi , i've just replaced my megane 2 dci filter for a green cotton one , i presume yours is the same as mine , i removed the battery cover , then the two screws holding the filter housing in place then you just pull it a little towards the front of the car , then it should slide out upwards , easy peasy. :D

so decided to go out and have a crack at fitting it myself, not something i would normally do

I started by unscrewing the two screws on the air filter housing (bloody tight fit)

then gave it a good pull and slid the housing upwards removing the filter and replacing it with my K&N panel filter

then i slid the air filter housing back into the original slot and tightened the screws back up, leaving it look like it was before the totally OEM look 8-)

Cheers mintyman5

I had that first, nicer sound and a bit of improvement on acceleration.

Whatever you do DO take the whole box out, I did that to put a induction kit on, after changing my mind I couldnt get the bliming box back in.

There's no major sound or performance difference compared to the difference you would see on a petrol engine vehicle, a tad disappointed tbh but at least I now won't ever have to buy a new air filter

Blimey, you lot never been on a big job?

Just got a 54 1.9 dci and started doing bits n bobs

dreading it after looking at this and its dead easy
2 screws out, lift up, take out, put new one in, slide back in, screws in, done

next, oil change
i'd better do a search on the under engine cover now
