i ordered one, cost me £17 quid, it's silver/chrome effect made from plastic with grooves so won't wear away.

looks a million times better than the tatty bit of renault kit in my opinion - will also save you a load of hassle

Could you provide a link for these please?

I'm watching a couple of 5 speed inserts on Ebay at the moment - even with a day to go both have topped £10 and looking at completed listings it has been the £25-27 mark!!! EEEkkk, if someone had a bit of time, bit of money and a bit of knowhow then they could be onto a winner. :-)

i found it very difficult to get a 6 speed with reverse on the right.

i bought mine from here on french ebay:

https://cgi.ebay.fr/vignette-6-v-pommeau ... 3cae74d7cc

it much better than the original, the engraving is much deeper!

I recently bought the 5-speed version from the same guy at 24 euros all in, he offers a brilliant service.

Is it easy enough to take out the old knob insert to fit a new one?

Do I just prise it out with a knife or something??

Thanks

Yes they just prise out.

I used a small straight blade screwdriver. Just be careful not to damage the leather if you have it.

It looks the same shape. That's as good an answer as I can give though without seeing it up close. It looks as though it will fit.

Hi,

Looking to fix me gear knob, as its all crack and scraped on top. I noticed you can buy for £20 or so the insert, but I think i'll paint it and save some cash for the next problem.

Is there anywhere people know of where i can get a stick or decal of the gear layout for the top?

Is acrylic paint the best to use, or another?

Hi,

I have the same idea to paint it - you should use primer paint first on it (ex. bumper spray), then any kind of paint you want. (have already done this with black bumper spray and metall look Renault body paint. Be carefull not to overpaint, better to do it in 2 cycles then one thick). I also did some sandpaper work before alla of this.

I am having a slight trouble with a layout - do not know what to do with it.
I've made my own in CorelDRAW:

but still not sure which technique should I use to apply it. :banghead

An option can be to engrave it by laser deep enough to make a hole, and even more put some red/orrange LED below it. :)

Any ideas?
