Some strange parts...

right. i need a few things for my megane but i don't know where to find them:

1. the plastic backing for the passenger side headlight. when i first had the car, i found both of the plastic backings off the lights, AND the plastic covers in the wheel arch in the boot! i managed to afix the drivers side one back on, but i dropped the passenger side one into the engine compartment. i can't see it, and it had it's cambelt done last week and the mechanics couldn't find it either so i can only presume it's fallen onto the road at some point... so i need one of them.
2. a new gear stick. although this one isn't major, all of the writing of where the gears are has rubbed off and just looks a bit of a mess...
3. the bits that go on the boot to attach the strings that pull up the parcel shelf when you open the boot. it's really annoying to get to any of the boot with the parcel shelf down, and i have no idea why they are missing!
4. new plastic trim all round. if anyone knows of any way to buff this up to make it look new, i would appreciate it. on the rear trim, it looks like someone has spilt something down it and it's left a strange liquid marking on the trim, and it just looks a mess. also, on the door panels, they have worn down a bit and the car would just look neater with new ones.

other than that, lol...

i've been round a few scrap yards. one told me that my car was too new, and insisted that i had a mk3, eventhough it's a mk2, and wouldn't help me.... the other scrap yard said the closest thing they had was a scenic... :S and fleabay doesn't throw much up either...

any ideas? :D

For the bumper trim, I have been using Autoglym Bumper Care.
My trims are black, but the bit the little plastic triangles infront of the door mirrors seem to fade really quickly. The Autoglym brings them up perfectly, and lasts about 3 months before I notice they gone bad again!
Looking at the bottle, it says can use it on most plastics, so I dont think there is a problem with your 'grey' trims.

bits for strings are cheap enough from dealers, gear knobs are usually expensive as they don't do just inserts. Odd ones crop up on e bay but so many people are after them they are silly prices. I took dremel to mine engraved numbers back in then coloured in with black paint.
Bumpers as suggested try autoglym or similar trim polish.
back of headlight probably dealer again unless you're lucky and scrap yard get one in.

There is a can of spray paint for the grey trims. I had to get a can from a Renault specialist when I was sent a black replacement door trim in error. I got the part number on here so if you do a search you may find it. You might get your other bits if you register here: https://www.partsgateway.co.uk

If any of the parts specialists or breakers they contact have what you are looking for, they send you a text and/or email

EDIT: I just found the thread with the spray paint info (and a photo) here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5671&p=41751&hilit=paint#p41751

People are being asked various prices but I got it from an independent Renault specialist for less than £7.00 from memory.

bit for parcel shelp very cheap. i have a spare if your interested.

the back of the headlight has two covers. one is a rubber bunge for the hi beams and the other is a screw on plastic cap for the dips and parking lights. one was missing on mine (plastic one) and renault only charged €4.50 including vat. and thats in ireland where renault are rip off merchants. aerosol was only €15 here aswell. works a treat.

:-)

Hi for the trim try grey shoe polish as it covers up all the scratches. once you have used that then use dash polish etc. Hope this helps

I have a set of the screw-on headlight cover if you still need them
