Hi everyone.
I'm trying to help out a friend who has just had her megane (2007) mot'd for the first time, it failed on the number plate light lamp holder Here's the rub the mechanic says that the lamp housing will cost £117.00 (seems like a hell of a price for a bit of plastic) to replace, I've looked at it and it has corrosion to the lampholder pins and consquently one of them has fallen off. I will contact renault tomorrow, but in the meantime does anyone have any thoughts/advice to pass on.
Yours in anticipation.
Gomez.
ps. Correction to this post, I'm now told the part when priced was £150.00 plus vat about £170.00

Re: Number plate lampholder ?
maybe look for one off a scrapped megane? seems alot to me, couldn't you solder the bulb directly to the wires, in the short term?

Yep, solder the LED lamp on. It will not burn the plastic upon contact and serves forever. If you solder the standard bulb on, then make sure it does not touch the plastic, as it gets hot. If you don't have a soldering iron, then twisted wire connections will do just fine.

Good point... On the other hand, if it looks the same, then nobody will check. Anyway, it should be possible to repair.
