Engine Replacement

Hi to everyone,
I've got my engine blown up and i need to replace it.
I've got a Megane 1.5 dci dynamique 55 reg, auto gearbox.is it true that replacement engine needs to be same number as a previous one for example my one is K9K 729 or can be a different.and what i have to be aware when i'm searching for engine.
Also if someone knows where is possible to find a decent engine i'll be thankfull.

ebays a good start as a number of engine specialists avdertise on there selling refurbed engines. They will either fit the engine for you (they want your old one in return) or you arrange for a local garage to fit it again with the old engine being picked up afterwards.
