Hi,
Looking to fit tyre pressure sensors to mine, and just wondering what's involved.
How is the information displayed on the intrument panel? Does it have a different "door open" display in the middle of the speedo and rev counter?
Fitting the sensors themselves in easy, but I've also got to think about the little computer that they "talk" to. Might be easy - like the heated seats fitted last month - might be next to impossible, like original Xenon headlights.
Let me know any shred of info please!
Thanks.

Paddy (Ulrich100) has posted about this I believe. From memory some work with the CLIP system is required - he has the kit.

Re: Anyone have a Mégane II with a tyre pressure monitor?
I indeed fitted them to my car.
I got a set of 4 used ones for £18 of ebay. 1 new from reanult is upwards of £40.
You will also need to check that you have the RF reciever as part of your ECU (to talk to them) This is done via Reanult CLIP. If you have it, it needs activated and the codes from each monitor programed into your ECU.
This information is displayed on your in dash computer. It states current pressure. Then gives warnings for verious conditions.
If there is a fault the tyre on the 'wee picture of the car' turns orange and the corresponding message is displayed.

Re: Anyone have a Mégane II with a tyre pressure monitor?
Thanks very much for that invaluable information.
Definitely going to do it - I have a few more questions I hope you can answer.
Are the sensors the same on all other Renaults (the Laguna, Vel Satis etc)?
On the car display on my dash, four tyres are visible, all empty circles. Do I need a new instrument panel, or does it just link in with the current one? Can't see where the pressures would be displayed.
And did you get Renault to check your ecu?
Sorry to be a pain, but you may have to guide me through it

Re: Anyone have a Mégane II with a tyre pressure monitor?
To a certain extent the sensors are transferable between models, although I would suggest you get the one designed for the Megane.
No the LCD dash is the same on ALL models. The instrument panel does NOT need changed. Any info is displayed where you get the 'insert key card message'
I have a CLIP so i did it all myself. However Renault will charge £45 -60 for a CLIP hook up, depending where you go.
(What this does is let you activate and deactivated certain feature of the car, if you don’t have monitors as standard it will be disabled in the ECU, you need it activated and the corresponding monitor codes paired. IF your ECU doesn't have an RF receiver to read the monitors the option wont be available when connected to CLIP.)

Thanks Paddy, sounds easier than I expected... I'll nip down to Charles Hurst tomorrow and see about getting her checked for the RF receiver. Fingers crossed.

Re: Anyone have a Mégane II with a tyre pressure monitor?
Ok Update:
Went to Charles Hurst today to ask them to check it out. The technician said there was no need to hook it up to CLIP and that you could physically see the needed part. He had a look at mine and came back with the conclusion that it can't happen because there is no place to plug in the tyre monitor computer.
Sounds a bit inconsistant to me... do you know of any other places around Belfast who can hook it up to CLIP?
Perhaps yours had the option originally but was deactivated when you purchased it?

Re: Anyone have a Mégane II with a tyre pressure monitor?
No.. hes talking through his arse.
The RF reciever is built into the meganes ECU.
Its on the Lagunas that it is visable on the underside of the car.
ON A MEGANE IT HAS TO BE LINKED TO CLIP TO ADDENTIFY THE OPTION. I would say there is 95% chance they can be coded to your car.
