Dear all
sorry if this has been covered before but i am at the end of my rope with this car, i have a 54 plate dymanique 1.6 hatchback (all standard) and for the past 5 years of ownership i have had no issues, then it went in for a service end of dec last year it needed some new parts mainly a new washer pump as the water would just trickel out, anyway moving on since then i have had all the dash lights coming on at various times then going off again (no loss of power or message recorded on the dash) then the window went down on its own, i manged to get it back up by diconnecting the battery several times, the window is up but will now not open (any ideas?)
now to top it all it failed its mot on the front washer pump not working again ? this time dead as a doh doh when i press the stork the rear washer squirts water ? any ideas why this is ?
i have phoned renualt to complain that i have only had this pump 3 months and i want it replaced and also told them this is the second one in 2 years, they have assured me that the car must come back to them as there must be an undelying fault.
guys i really dont want to send it back to renault as i know they will charge the earth just to look at it rather than just change the pump, and i can guarentee that i will not walk out of the showroom with less than a £300 bill, to do last service which was a bronze service ending up costing £400 time before gold service (they never did fix the air con) but managed to charge £800 as the cam belt needed doing.
so as you can appreciate i feel that there cash cow is now bankrupt....
after all that waffling has anybody had similar issues and could it be the pump again or a fuse i looked in the owners manual and it dosent actually say there is a fuse for this pump ? also as this is a different issue do you think i am just better off buying a new pump and getting someone elst to fit it rather than have renault tell me i probabley need this that and the other at a cost of £XXXXX
sorry if i have bored you all but i really am fed up with this.
Thank you all in advance
kind regards
Martin

Re: Washer pump woes
the renault part is guaranteed for 1 yr including the labour costs. you'd be suprised how good they can be sometimes. i got 3 hours free for fault finding and never bought the part anyway.

Hello Ray
thank you for the prompt reply
i appreciate what you say and never knew about the warrenty.
my concern is they charge me a fortune for diagnistics tests etc ? i have heard some real horror stories..
in fairness they have in the past been good to me and always have a lady call a couple of weeks later to see if i am happy with the service,
i did buy the car from them and have always taken it back to them for servicing so maybe they should be my first port of call, surely they must let me know in advance what they are going to do and what it will cost.
kind regards

Re: Washer pump woes
Hi Martin
Sorry for the long post but your problem sounds very similar to the fault(s) I'm beginning to experience on my 2005 1.9Dci Estate.
Some time ago the rear washer on the car just stopped working one day (though wiper ran and continues to run, quite happily). The front washer also works with no problem. 'It's the pump' says I. To cut along story short, I took the front bumper off to get at the washer bottle to check the pump as well as check the wiring (there are only 2 wires to the single pump but 2 washer pipes on my car - so it must spin one way for the front washers and be electrically controlled to reverse direction to squirt the rear screen).
I didn't seem to get any voltage at the pump when trying the rear washer. I next checked all the fuses and connections at the side of the battery, by disconnecting the battery and then checking, cleaning and plugging everything back in. Voila - rear washer runs again - for a week, and then stops.
Intermittently it does work, but only very occasionally. Yesterday, out of the blue, whilst driving along I got the orange engine symbol on the dash with the accompanying orange 'SERVICE' light.
I decided to reset everything by disconnecting the battery again (now I'm starting to suspect the UCH (interior multiplex module) may have a part to play in all this. The reset eliminates the 'SERVICE' light, but I notice that the front passenger electric window is stuck up and won't respond to either door switch. Great. All 3 other windows run up and down without a problem. Rear washer still does nothing. We take the car out and head to a pub for lunch. On returning to the car, we notice the front passenger window has wound itself down as if by 'magic'! Luckily it didn't rain while we were having lunch in the pub - or that we had left any valuables in the car.
Again, sorry for the long post, but these gremlins are starting to add up, and I think my UCH is on the way out. My only choice is to take the car to a Renault specialist with the necessary equipment as I can't fault find any further. When I get a result I will post again.
