225/45 17 on 6,5 wheels

As the title says: can I put 225/45 17'' tyres on the original wheel of size 6,5x17? I've seen it on a forum and the guy says it's no problem. What are the pros and cons? Personally i think the tyre size is too wide, but these tyres come a lot cheaper than the recommended 205/50 17.

225/45R17 require 7.5-9'' wide rims. Yours are 6.5''.

Thanks Alex, I assumed it's a no go, but as I already said, this size is much cheaper than 205/50 17. :(
