lowering springs

Hi folks,

needing advice on lowering springs.

First of, i live in an area with huge speed humps, basically i have a 56 plate meg II 1.6 dynamique 4 door.

putting 225/40/18 and only have scope to lower the car by max 25mm due to speed bumps, calculations already done.

can anyone help with a supplier of springs to do the job???

I think the smallest drop you can get with just springs is 30mm using Eibach, KW or Apex springs.

Dont buy anything other than the Ebach springs or you will greatly compromise on ride comfort.

They offer a 35mm drop as standard or 60-65 mm of slightly modified (top coil removed)

I had them for a while at 60+ drop all was perfect other than i couldn't get into uni for scraping the arse out of my car because of the ramps.

Thus the reason for the coils, high during the week.. eaisly lowered for the weekend.

Dont look past Ebach.. well maybe Koni if the deal is very very good.

so basically its coilovers all round,

what are the chances of taking springs for the standard 2.0l petrol as surely they would be set a reasonable amount stiffer.

From a handling point of view would that be beneficial??

There is no differance in the springs between all petrol models.

Bite the bullet and get the coils, you wont regret it.

I finally fitted my Eibach springs today and they are absolutely fantastic. They have pretty much abolished the excessive roll, squat and dive with almost zero effect on ride comfort. Amazing bit of kit, and would highly recommend!

oh, i assumed that due to a heavier front end that the front springs would be stiffer.

cheers for the help guys, may have to stay stock just now, funds are a bit tight.

Just grind a coil off! If thats the case.

I'm not sure there is one. Your best bet is a haynes manual.

Just look one up on the net. But its really not that hard. All you need is a socket set and a spring compressor.

Changing the spring on a megane is the same as any other car.

hi all lowered on koni sport shocks and eibach pro kit spring on my Megane II Sedan. All is good but I seem to be scraping every hump on the road (the exhaust center muffler is) . Is it normal and anything i can do to prevent the exhaust from hitting the road ?

I have mine lowered using spax springs (45mm) on 19's (215,35,19) and i only catch my centre box rarely when in the lower levels of my works multi storey car park.

no real peoblems with speed bumps if you go over them slow(i hate them anyways).
