Recently bought a 2004 Megane 1.6 Dynamique. The only problem is the door handles(Chrome Satin) have started to crack!!
Does anyone know how much they are to replace?
and why they've started to crack?
Thanks.

Re: Megane door handles??
is it the handles themselves or just the end caps that have started to crack?
all my end caps cracked but easily replaced them.

3 of the end caps on my Megane have cracked too. Is there a guide on how to replace them, also where's the best/cheapest place to buy them?

Re: Megane door handles??
As with most things I managed to get my end caps off ebay £10 for 4 if i remember correctly.
To get your end caps out is quite easy once you have done one.
easiest are the front doors if you open the door there is a rubber bung near the lock take that out and if you look inside you will see a silver lever just get an old coat hanger and make a hook on the end , when you have hooked the lever and pulled it towards you the end cap will then just pull out, just make sure you put the lever back when you have done.
the rear doors are a little more tricky as the lever is not easily seen you have to do some fishing but like i said once you have sone one door the other is done is 2 mins.
I might have a couple of extra end caps available as the guy sent me a couple extra to make up for the long delay in him actually posting them

No, it's the end caps which are cracked, the only ones on ebay are the passenger door side(emergency lock) for sale. Will these fit all the doors or just the passenger side??

Re: Megane door handles??
Had mine on my previous 53 plater changed by the dealers about 6 months out of warranty. Renault picked up three quarters of the bill and I paid the rest so they obviously are aware of the shoddy finish. Had them all changed. Only lasted another year before fresh cracks appeared though!

I've just checked with both Renault and my local stealer about this, however as expected my end caps are not covered by the warranty

The stealer then conveniently offered to sell me the required parts, however I was told that the caps can't be obtained on their own, have to be bought as part of a complete handle set at just over £50 each + vat. I didn't fancy being bent over the stealer's barrell today, so declined their 'offer'

Does anyone know if and where these caps can be purchased on their own?
