Door Mirror
Last night a scumbag ripped off my driver's door mirror and windscreen wiper. Does anybody know how much new ones are likely to cost?

Re: Door Mirror
Door mirror £122.27.
Wiper arm £47.22
Wiper blade £17.15
Total £186.64
The above does not include VAT.
The car may need to be recovered because I cannot drive it anywhere in the rain (it is lashing down) with no driver's side wiper. The door mirror is not in stock and will not be here until Thursday at the earliest. Labour will be charged on top.
I cannot even repair the wiper arm myself until the damage has been assessed by a rep for Direct Line (mind you I can't drive somewhere to get one until the rain stops so it's either a very lengthy walk there and back in the rain or a taxi bill racked up as I drive around looking for a wiper arm and blade).

freddymercurystwin wrote:Thats a bummer indeed, apologies for my Tuesday morning fun! Could prob get the parts for considerably less if you went second hand although as its an insurance job at least it won't cost you ('till you come to renew that is!) and you don't have the hassle of locating parts/ebay etc.
It won't affect my NCB but the excess is similar to the likely repair bill and every day the car is off the road (i.e. while it rains) then it's costing me wages (I don't get leave or sick pay or anything like that).

Re: Door Mirror
i think i would try a scrap yard first for the wiper arm...is the wing mirror colour matched? if not, i would try a scrap yard first again

I'd recommend the scrap yard 1st.
Your NCB won't be affected but you'll have a hike in premium when you come to renew, as for the next 5 years you'll have to declare the claim. Got to decide whether its worth taking the easy route and letting insurance sort it or have a little work to do yourself and save a lot of money.
Sods law also says it'll rain for the next few days solid now.
