Service

Postby Matt54 » Sat Feb 25, 2012 6:33 pm

My Megane ii needs a service. 2004 54 1.6 Dynamique.

The obvious bits, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter & spark plugs. Does it have a polen filter?

Is there anything I have missed?

I also need to buy a blank service book. Is it green or brown?

If it had aircon it would probably have pollen filter which is located drivers footwell open little cap on left and its there.
If you get k&n panel air filter they last a million miles so you never need to replace just clean every year.

Re-read the first question?

Is it green or brown for a 2004 54?

Why does it matter what colour the book is?

Yes, it's a Nov 2005 '55' with Euro IV emissions engine.

Yours on a '54' may not be Euro IV. As far as I remember (I left Renault over 4 years ago) that is when renault changed the recommended service interval on a 1.6 petrol from "18k or 2 years" to "18k or 1 year". I think the older service book had a reddy brown cover.

However, I've always been of the opinion that a 2 year service interval is unrealistic and a car should be serviced annually. If you intend to do an annual service then either service book is fine because you'll service it either 'on' schedule or 'before' schedule anyhow.

Hope that helps.

It will be serviced annually.

It matters what colour it is because all my documents are green.
So I assumed the service book should've green too.

Anyhow, im struggling to find a green Service Book. :(
