Myself and my other half did a day out round wales today. We have done this trip before but its the first time in the CC.
Here is the route from our Humble abode in Shropshire to :- Horse Shoe Pass by llangollen on to Bala lake, then from there through some of snowdonia national park to Porthmadog, after Porthmadog we went right past Mt Snowdon and the lakes surrounding it and on to Betwsy coed. It was a fantastic day and some quality top down driving.

Yeah ok will do
It is very peacfull up there. Its quite easy to forget about the troubles in the UK and crap like fuel prices. Realy nice to just get away from it all

Re: Mini Wales Tour in the CC
Nice! another one for you!
Origonal route but at Bala carry on on to A494 to Dolgellau, at Dolgellau take A470 but look for a left turn sign posted Fairbourne I think (A493) follow this road around the coast, some stunning cliffs etc brings you around to a place called Machynlleth...... you can either go home via Dolgellau or Welshpool from here.
OR!
take you origonal route towards Pothmadog, past trawsfynydd just past the ffestinog turn you come to Maentwrog take a left on this bend just after you go over the river this is the A496 (I think) it is a left just after the bridge, follow this road around to Barmouth, good drive especailly when the sun is out, barmouth has a good few shops (or did have) drive through and it brings you out just before Dolgellau take a right turn and follow road to Dolgellau then take the A494 to Bala lake and home.
another nice one is porthmadog to criccieth turning left in pwllheli toward Nefyn, this is a long run from your end though, Abersoch in quite nice but again a very long run we went there on a Sunday and it was shut ! [small village, nice beach] you just carry on going through Pwllheli to get to it, it is well sign posted.
most of these where our stomping grounds for many a year riding a CBR600 or the VF400 all arriving back at Betws to Dills Dinner for a coffee, AAAaaa those where the days, when you did not give a stuff about speed cameras and the price of fuel! not done any of these runs for quite a while now and never in the CC.
We are off to Yorkshire next week - Newsham!

Re: Mini Wales Tour in the CC
I know the route your talking about, ive been to those places. Grand parents fault! Was a typical day out when I was a kid although I would say I appreciate the journey, roads and scenery more now
