Hi guys,
I had a rear shunt this morning from an old style mini. Happened to be driven by a police woman going to work. I bet she was gutted too. She was only about 50 yrds away from the police station.
Anyway, I suffered some rear damage to the N/S rear wing panel, boot lid, rear bumper and also the back plate behind the bumper. My boot wont shut now, and thus the locks wont lock either.
Waiting for my replacement focus or astra to get delivered, as the insurance have said my car is imobile cos it wont lock.
Im not expecting a quick repair.

Depends on the insurance company. Normally they only give you a loan car for two weeks maximum. So i reckon they will be aiming to get it done in that time.
Its the waiting for your excess to be reimbursed that takes ages.

Excess to be re-imbursed?
My wifes car was reversed into outside a friends, give the lady her due she sent her husband knocking to let us know. Insurance sorted it all but i don't recall us getting excess back. Is that normal if it's someone elses fault?

Yup, if your not liable for the accident then they should wavier your excess. My insurance haven't asked me for any excess. The RAC have just come and collected my car this morning to take it to the repair centre.
Im just waiting for a few days now, in case whiplash kicks in. Last time I had a rear shunt it took around 2-3 days before it surfaced.

Mmmm might need to look into that. Rising premiums annoy me too when it comes to renewal even though not your fault.
PS. Djkav i should of said sorry to hear about shunt. It's gutting when your car gets pranged. Hope it's all mended soon. And your whiplash.
Nick.

Yes,my insurance company did not ask me for any excess payment, I was told to bring my car to the bodyshop and pick up a courtesy car.I had the car 23 days as they were waiting for parts and picked it up and was asked for no money for the excess.
