How to remove the letters megane

Postby rdp1612 » Sun Feb 10, 2019 11:01 am

Hi all,

I would really like to remove the letters “megane” from the trunk of my car (cc 2004).

Is there a good tutorial on how to do this? It looks like they are glued to the car, is this correct? In that case I was thinking of using fishing wire to remove them and after that use my fingers to remove the rest of the glue before waxing the car.

Hope someone can give me some tips and tricks :)

Hairdryer and an old credit card etc.

Heat the area with the hairdryer and slide the card under the letters one by one to remove them, any remaining residue can be removed with thinners or such like.

Thnx for the tips! It looks the weather is alright today so i will combine your tips (hair dryer and dental floss) and let you know the results :)

Tomorrow the front struts will be replaced (hope this is correct english).

Just a wash and polishing session after that and if the forecast doesn’t change (14/15 degrees and sunny) wednesday will be the first “topless” ride of the year :)

You should get hold of a scenic badge ditch all the letters bar the 2 C,s and stick them under the diamond of doom badge so instead of reading MEGANE it will read simply CC.
Looks rather good.

Well, an update here.. i removed the letters megane, must say it was easier then expected :)

While changing the front strut, i found out that my right side suspension was almost broken so i replaced the front suspension!

And guess what, found some more issues so will start fixing them tomorrow..

It’s not as bad as it sounds. A mate of mine is a mechanic at Renault so everything is bought by him amd fixed for free (ok, sometimes i pay him of with a bottle of scotch ;))
