Hi all,

As the heading suggest my queries are in relation to Megane mk2 1.5 dCi tyres.....

What would the difference in performance (traction) etc be between 195/65 R15 H or 205/55 R16 H?
Can anyone recommend a good set of tyres? I was considering Goodyear.

Any help is much appreciated.

thanks.

195 or 205 is the width of the tyre in mm so a 205 has more rubber in contact with road.

65 or 55 is the height of the sidewall as a % of the width. The sidewall height is a trade off between comfort and handling. Taller for comfort and vice versa.

Are your wheels 15" or 16" ? You have quoted both sizes and obviously only one will fit (unless you're also intending to buy new wheels at the same time).

All that said, I think the choice of tyre make and model will have just as much (if not more) influence on traction and performance than just the size.

Take a look at this review website and see what you think.

Thanks for the response. Now I understand what the tyre code means.
I have checked my wheels are 16"

Currently have the following tyres on...
Front left - Maxxis Victra 510 – 205/55 R16 91V
Front right - Maxxis Victra 510 – 205/55 R16 91V
Back left - Sagitar P307 – 205/55 ZR16 91W
Back right – Sunny SN3630 - 205/55 R16 91V

Whilst the tread on these tyres is fine, I am finding grip not to be great in the wet when cornering, also feedback is poor. I will take a look at that website later on this evening. I figure to get4 new decent tyres.

I'm thinking of 2 x Goodyear UltraGrip 9 at the front and move my current 2 fronts to the rear.
is it possible to source tyres yourself and get an independent garage to fit them?
Would Kwik Fit fit them?

Superb value will either send tyres to your house or send you to your local fitter and send tyres to them.
As said superb value and excellent service, I wont use anyone else they can not be beaten on price.

I generally get mine from Camskill and my local MOT place fits them for £10 a time.
