Roof Issue any ideas

Postby giskardesign » Sat Sep 05, 2015 7:28 pm

Hi,

Recently bought a Renault Megane CC to use as my daily driver, been fairly impressed with it so far as it does everything that I was looking for from a commuter car. I bought the car knowing that the roof was not working as I like a challenage and it would give me something to play with/fix at the weekends.

The car displays Roof Mechanism Fault on the dashboard and the service light is on, after driving the car for maybe 5 minutes the lights go out on the dash. Both of the switches on the centre console do not operate anything at all. After spending some time rocking the switches and playing with them all four windows went down but would not go back up. The switches on the door put 3 of the windows back up but the drivers side rear window will only work with the switch in the back.

After playing again, the roof switch lowered the windows, and a whirring noise from the back started and stopped and the roof mechanism fault appeared again. I have plugged a diagnosis reader in and the car dispalys no faults, I also have an ELM327 reader and I have tried the Torque App and Scanmaster and both display no issues. The previous owner has obvious been looking at the boot hinge mechanism as it was loose and the blind switch had been removed and taped closed, both of these issues I have fixed, and I have also manually opened the boot and checked the locks and they appear to be free and everything moves freely. The oil level was low on the pump so I have topped this up as well. I tested the roof switch with a multimeter and the switch was not always working every time the switch was presssed, so this was replaced last week. Swapped the switch, pressed it and the windows lowered and nothing else happened. Tonight I disconnected the battery, left it for an hour to reset the ecu - connected the battery and the dash just reads Roof Mechanism Fault and both switches do nothing.

Any ideas as to what to try/check/do next????

Thanks in advance
