Parcel shelf too slack

Hi , I've found my cover no longer lowers in time to be covered by the boot lid . I'm now having to push it down in time and I've noticed its loose like the cables need tightening . Does this require a professional ? Or can anyone have a go ?

After Renault tried to charge me for a £100 dynastic to tell me a cable needs replacing I decided to work out a way to lower the silly bit of plastic. My first idea is to place a curved bracket on the shelf , so as the roof lowers into the compartment it levers the shelf down . Now maybe a spring integrated into the bracket could make it all the more graceful . Hopefully this may save the other cables needing replacing or it could ruin everything. To add to the pain the new MeganeCC does away with the silly bit of plastic. It's like they know it's rubbish .
