no power to roof

Postby stewgough » Wed Feb 18, 2015 7:45 pm

Hi all, just got a 05 CC, seems like there no power to the roof, when I press the button there is no relay noise or anything.
I bought the car knowing there was a problem, thought it may be an easy fix, also rear windows don't work and showing electronic fault on dash, oh yeah and central locking won't work off card but works when driving and from button inside car, HELP!!!!

This will not be an easy one to sort out, remotely. I think you are either going to have to take it to an Auto-electrician or if you are capable, find somewhere dry and warm and start checking connections with a multi meter. Window problems are not that uncommon and there are lots of "modules" on eBay that say they will solve the problem. Take the centre console apart and see if there is power to the switches and either work forward to the roof motor or backwards in search of power..... all this is assuming you have checked for blown fuses extra???

Thanks for the input, I have checked fuses but only those beside the glove box, unsure if there are any related fuses by the battery

I'm just wondering if there would be anything to gain from attaching an OBD2 scanner to your car? It might give you a clue about the electronic fault? Plus there should be another set of fuses in the engine compartment, but these will be for lights and other heavy duty loads....but of course that may well include the roof operation?

I have had a code reader on it , all it shows is air bag open circuit , cover is pulled across , is there any kind of micro switch that tells the brain that the cover is across or not ?, it not even showing any kind of roof fault on dash.

Passenger side where the cover clips in place is a micro switch
Drive it like you stole it

I'd not considered that micro switch, but wouldn't you then get the warning message about food operation and to check your manual? Having said that I don't think the food will operate with the windows up and I think you said there was a fault with the rear ones..... So this may be a place to consider looking at.

Hi all, I have just checked the plug to the switch and have a 12v supply, I then checked for continuity on the switch , I have a circuit one way on the switch but nothing the other way , could this be the problem ? ( the switch )

Spend 2 days trying to fix no power to roof , didn't realise that the parcel shelf in boot need to be be pulled open as it presses a switch , live and learn
