Wondering if anyone has attempted to modify the electrics and give the roof a permanant 12v supply via the 40 fuses...
A further simple modification of the addition of a remote control (ebay £5 ) wired into the roof switch would allow remote opperation of the roof and no one needs to look like a plonka sat there anymore !!!
????

The fuses are by the glove compartment so its easy to fit a relay to switch the roof circuit to 12v permanant when the ignition goes off...
As far as the remote goes, that just requires coupling/piggy backing onto the roof switch ...
dont see any problem doing it

Re: roof modification
Now proven - Just one wire added to the roof circuit and i ve had my roof working without the ignition on which makes a remote "fob" Do-able and i would now use a £8 4 way remote (4 buttons ) press two buttons together for up and two for down to avoid accidently opening it with the press of one button in a pocket (you get the picture).
What i am trying to work out now is which wire is the "car moving dont open" trigger wire as i think a roof that opens at low speed on the move would be more convenient..(yes i know there is a mod box that does this but £250 is a bit steep !)
Anyone know which wire is the trigger wire ?

Re: roof modification
its controlled by the handbrake switch! not the car moving!
if you drive with the handbrake on you can operate the roof!!
but having been sent to renault when these cars where brand new, we asked the question of why they hadn't made it so you can raise or lower with the car moving, and they mechanism 'can't take the strain'!
tbh, it goes up or down in the time it takes for the traffic lights to change which is quick enough for me! I see that you said you don't like sitting there "plonka", but personally i think its better to sit there for the 18sec than be driving down the road with a "look at me" sign as the roof goes down

Re: roof modification
lol, i used to time the roof up and down in my 11 month old xr3i convertible, that was in 1991
that was great fun cause it had one of the old pop up electric aerials too, i had to coast up to the lights , it was great
gonna try my cc now, on my drive though, not on the road, crikey , im too old for all these things but hey....... its still great fun

Hi Was wondering if you have a diagram or pictures as to how you've done this and a picture of the fob

Cheers
