honking when reversing

For some reason, after I have been driving for a while and then stop and reverse, my CC makes a honking/foghorn type noise from the rear end. I have no idea what it could be other than a bearing, perhaps??

Or is it the reversing sensor?

Hi.
Mine used to make a droning noise from the rear brakes when I reversed. This happened from new. Took it to Renault but they never solved it. My brothers did the same, never sorted his either. Inherent problem as with the electric window fault. Lived with it and now its cured itself. Never made any strange noises when driving forwards. :D

Turned out to be the rear brake discs and pads. Got them both replaced and the problem has gone away.

definitely is the rear discs and pads

try reversing and slamming on the brakes somewhere safe, this could dislodge any crap build up between the discs and pads
remember the rear wheel bearings are in the disc assembly too.... could just need grease on them bearings too ok
hope this helps

Yep, it was all sorted by a mate who replaced the rear discs and pads.
Thanks for the input though!
