Could be the clock spring which put into very simple terms is a coil of wires that allow the steering wheel to turn while keeping the electrical connection to the horn and airbag etc. I got a feeling it also connects to the indicator and lighting stalks but cant be certain off hand. My car had the same service/airbag light when I first viewed it and that's what it turned out to be, happily the garage sorted it out before I bought.

It might just be worth checking the electrical connector under the passenger seat as it has a habit of working loose and causing the service/airbag light to illuminate, obviously wont stop the clicking though.

A lot, sadly. And, I'd be surprised if it were not the cause.

Try a scrapyard/breaker and if you do the replacement yourself, read up on air bag safety precautions as you will be removing an unexploded bomb while you perform the repair.
