Hi. I am totally new to these cars and having sold my MG Roadster I wanted something with fours seat (sort of) and a convertible. I'm sure you've already thought of this but after I picked the car up (a 2004 CC), when I got home the rear window wouldn't raise. I took it back to the garage and they said it was a loose connection in the rear panel. They reconnected it but it happened again so they replaced the connector completely. The bloke told me there is tension on the connector caused where the cabling passes through the waterproofing in the panel hence the problem and the disconnect. Also the connector pins on mine had apparently widened making the connector a bit iffy anyway. It seems fine now (but it'll always worry me of course) but I wonder does your car really need a new window motor or just a tinker with the wiring in the rear panel?
As for the lowering and rasining the roof I'd probably leave well alone (unless it's still down!) until you've sorted the window.

Cheers, Monts
